Xavier began his musical education with piano lessons at the age of seven.
At nine, he joined the Pastoureaux choir.
Aged eighteen, he rejoined the Pastoureaux, becoming assistant musical director under Philippe Favette. He was advised in this role by Séverine Delforge.
Gaining a baccalaureate in Germanic language and literature and a master’s in musicology from the Université catholique de Louvain, he then entered the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. Awarded a bachelor’s in music, specialising in theory and music notation, he is currently perfecting his musical practice by studying counterpoint, orchestration, singing and orchestral conducting.
At the same time, he is continuing his studies of choir conducting with teachers such as Thomas Hofereiter, Guy Van Waas and Bob Chilcott. He is also developing his experience under the direction of Leonardo García Alarcón, Gerrit Stadlbauer, Lorenzo Donati and Mikko Sidoroff.
As a chorister, he has contributed as a bass to the choirs of the Université catholique de Louvain and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. He took part in the 2016 session of Eurochoir, the European youth choir.
As assistant musical director of the Pastoureaux, he contributes to the musical education of the choirboys, recruits young singers and conducts concerts.
